Overview
Use of the sock is optional, though recommended. The sock will help prevent marking and potential creasing of the underlying airplane structure.
After installing the sock, place the iron on the included stand, then place it on a heat resistant surface. Connect the iron to an appropriate AC wall outlet. Press the ON/OFF button to power the iron on. Adjust the temperature to the desired level with the temperature adjustment buttons.
Holding both the ON/OFF and C/F button for approximately three seconds will change the temperature display mode between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Set the iron to the temperature recommended for the covering material being used. Once the iron reaches the set temperature, it’s ready for use. You may find it helpful to test a scrap piece of covering to ensure the temperature setting is appropriate for the task being performed. Often tacking the shrinking are performed at different temperatures.

Tamiya acrylic paints are made from water-soluble acrylic resins and are excellent for either brush painting or air-brushing. These paints can be used on styrene resins, Styrofoam, wood, plus all of the common model plastics. The paint covers well, flows smoothly, and can be blended easily. Prior to curing, paint can be washed away with plain water.
When airbrushing make sure to use any of the following Tamiya thinners: 81020, 81030, 81040, 81520, 87077.
X designated colors have a glossy finish while XF designated colors are flat finish. The paint can be thinned for airbrushing using Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner. The paint can be also thinned for airbrushing using Tamiya Lacquer Thinner. Using Tamiya Lacquer Thinner will yield faster drying results and a harder finish. For better paint brushing results use Tamiya Paint Retarder (87114) for a smoother brushstroke free finish.
